6 Kinds of Giving for the New Year

John 3:16 (NKJV) For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

In the above verse, which is one of the most powerful and well-known verses in the Bible, we are told that God is a giver!  He is the greatest giver and because He is the greatest giver, He will give us the grace we need when we are called upon to give.

Here are six kinds of giving that you should practice in the New Year (and beyond):
1. Give up – This is the first (and highest) form of giving we should do.  Giving up here means that we give up of our self righteousness.  It is the surrender of what is wrong in us in order to receive what God wants to make right in us.

2. Forgive – The releasing of grudges, anger, pain, or internalized stress over real or perceived injustices.  Life is too short to hold on to unforgiveness!
